The American Lung Association is committed to preventing lung disease
and promoting lung health through education, research, and advocacy. We
offer practical help to people living with asthma, emphysema and other lung diseases. We also confront lung disease at the root level, educating kids about the dangers of smoking, pushing for more smoke-free workplaces and even working to reduce air pollution. For more information about the American Lung Association, the nation's oldest voluntary health organization, visit our national Web site.
The American Lung Association of Utah is part of the American Lung Association of the Southwest, which serves Arizona,Colorado,Nevada,New Mexico, and Utah. Walking Our Talk
As Lung Association employees, we don’t want to breathe dirty air either. In our office, we lessen our negative impact on the environment in simple ways: most of our employees carpool, bus, or use some form of alternative transportation to get to work, and we have two natural gas vans for errands and to transport kids to our asthma camp.
In 1916, tuberculosis was a leading cause of death in Utah. Subsequently, 15 Utahns organized the Utah Public Health Association. In 1922, a black Ford truck called the “Tin Lizzy” traveled with Health Service Doctors and nurses around Utah. The Lung Association established its foundation on this mobile beginning.
